Another favorite shop: Drink, Shop & Do

 

Pertinho da estação de King's Cross está um café/loja onde ainda não tinha conseguido ir - não sei porquê achava que era no fim do mundo, mas no Sábado, depois de ter saído da Country Living Spring Fair e como o tempo convidava a passeios a pé, lá fui eu em busca deste lugar quase encantado. Entra-se pela loja, sobe-se meia dúzia de degraus e estamos numa cafeteria giríssima!!! Mobiliário vintage, objectos de decoração de há 30 anos, mantas de crochet, um atendimento simpático - enfim, um local onde apetece estar. Vou lá voltar, de certeza!

Next to King's Cross Station there is this shop/coffee shop where I hadn't had the chance to go yet - I don't know why but I thought it was in the middle of nowhere - until last Saturday I decided to walk there after visiting the Country Living Spring Fair. The weather was gorgeous and it only took me about 20 minutes to get there.

The entrance is made through the shop, you go up a few steps and you are in the most gorgeous coffee shop in the area!!! Vintage furniture, 30 years old object, crochet throws, nice service - weel, that sort of place where you want to be. I'm sure I'm going back!

A dreamy couple

Na página do Facebook já estão disponíveis mais aguarelas - e logo à tarde incluirei estas também - em tamanho A6, que tenho pintado nas horas calmas da noite. 

Ontem resolvi fazer uma pequena experiência e o resultado são estes dois posters/quadros de tamanho A5 todos em papel de aguarela de 350gms: a base é forrada e por cima, em relevo estão colocadas as figuras que pinto habitualmente. 

On my Facebook page I have available some new watercolours -. and later on I'll display these ones as well - on the usual A6 size, which I've been painting during my quiet late nights.

Yesterday I decided to vary a bit and the finished product are these two posters/pictures on A5 size made on 350gms watercolour paper: the base is covered and on it I put the illustrations I usually make.

Shows, fair and ... shopping!

É praticamente impossível sair das feiras que tenho ido visitar sem comprar nada. Na realidade apetece trazer muito mais, para não dizer quase tudo, não só materiais para poder usar mas também produtos já prontos feitos por mãos habilidosas 

Apesar de não ter os meios necessários para os transformar, acabo sempre por comprar tecidos, fitas e botões, pois acredito que em breve o poderei fazer, e assim vou construindo aqui o meu stock de material.

Na semana passada trouxe da Craft & Stitch Show uns fatquarters com um ar "very British", com os quais quero fazer um avental, e uns "navy" que ainda não têm destino. Para combinar comprei na Country Living Spring Fair uma fita em azul e encarnado e uns botões de porcelana que ainda não têm destino.

It's nearly impossible to leave the fairs that I've been visiting with empty hands. Well, indeed it feels like we want to buy everything, not only materials but also finished products handmade by skillfull people.

Although I don't have the necessary tools to sew I always end up buying some fabrics, ribbons and buttons as I believe that soon I'll be able to make something, and this way I'm building my stash around here.

Last week I bought some "very British" fatquarters to make an apron and some navy ones which I don't know what I'm going to make with them. To match these I bought some ribbon and some porcelain buttons at the Country Living Spring Fair this Saturday.

Ready for Ascot

Os dias das corridas ainda estão estão longe, mas eu já me estou a preparar :-) Brincadeira! 

Na escola vai celerar-se a Páscoa e a chegada da primavera com um desfile de chapéus e eu fiz este para a C. levar nesse dia. Mas que podia ir a Ascot com ele, ai isso podia!

The racing days are still a bit far, but I'm already getting ready :-) Just kidding!

At school Easter and Spring will be celebated with a bonnet parade and I made this for C. to wear that day. Well, but looking at it I could make Ascot with it, couldn't I?

Knitted Village

Uma das grandes atracções do Stitch & Craft Show, que visitei no Sábado era uma aldeia feita em tricot - um mimo!!! e uma verdadeira obra de arte. Não a consegui fotografar na totalidade, pois as pessoas em sua volta formavam uma pequena multidão, mas deixo-vos aqui alguns exemplos deste mundo em miniatura :-)

One of the biggest attractions at the Stitch & Craft Show, which I visited last Saturday was a knitted village - too sweet to be truth!!! and a real master piece. I couldn't take any photo of the whole village as it was very crowded, so I took some pictures of the "buildings I loved the most :-)

On display

Tenho aproveitado uma parede ainda branca do meu quarto para colocar as aguarelas que vou pintando e que ainda estão comigo - não só dão colorido ao espaço, como também não se danificam nem correm o risco de ficar com os cantos dobrados. Deste modo sinto-me mais "em casa" :-)

I've been using a blank wall in my bedroom to display all the watercolours that I've been painting and haven't been sold - not only they make this space more colourful but also saves them from being damaged. Also this makes me feel a bit more "at home":-)

Stitch & Craft Show

Passei uma boa parte de Sábado na Stitch & Craft Show em Londres e apesar de ter chegado cedo a multidão nos corredores já era imensa - pessoas de todas as idades, mas sobretudo mulheres (onde é que estão os homens que também se dedicam a estas coisas???) Três pisos dedicados ao fazer e saber fazer repletos de tudo e mais alguma coisa - também havia muitas inutilidades, e coisas pouco ao meu gosto também... Mas para ser sincera houve apensa dois ou três pavilhões que me prenderam a atenção - acho que estou muito exigente! - pois novidades, novidades não vi nenhumas e a culpa é da internet!!!

Uma boa parte do primeiro andar estava ocupada por duas exposições de quilts, dos quais 14.000 eram bandeirolas. E foi lá que pude matar saudades de coser um bocadinho...

Valeu a pena as £12,00 pagas à entrada e o tempo no autocarro para lá chegar e regressar - quase uma hora e meia no total. Para a semana há mais e em dose dupla: Craft Central gets Hitched e Country Living Spring Fair.

Last Saturday I went to Stitch & Craft Show in London and despite arriving early it was already packed with people - people of all ages, especially women (where are the crafty men of this planet??? There were three floors all full of crafty items for those who love embroydery, sewing, knitting and crocheting and also for all the paper craft addicted. Despite all the variety and to be honest with you there weren't many things that caught my attention - I think I'm to demanding and I'm sure it's Internet's fault!

A big area on the 1st floor was being used to display quilts - 14.000 were pennants ! And there I had the chance to sew for a little while...

In the end it was worth the £12,00 I paid at the entrance and all the time in the bus - about 1h30mn in total. And now I'm getting ready for next weekend: Craft Central gets Hitched and Country Living Spring Fair.

It's stronger than me and I always end up drawing cute girls :-) I promise that in the next few days there will be more boys and also some novelties :-)))
