Aproveitei ter estado em Portugal para criar alguns projectos que pudesse completar por cá e entre mil e uma coisas disponíveis eis que já vos posso mostrar as primeiras e que vão estar disponíveis na página do facebook. Cada peça tem uma edição limitada de cinco exemplares, a qual será numerada para não haver confusões.

While in Portugal I started some new projects that I could finish here and today I can show you the first results of my ideas, which will be available from my facebook page. Each item will be a limited edition of five and each of them will be numbered to avoid any confusions.

Tea time

Estou de regresso à "ilha", como carinhosamente gosto de lhe chamar.

O dia esteve óptimo, comparativamente com a chuva que caía quando saí de Lisboa, mas a temperatura... FRIO! E nada melhor para animar uma tarde gelada que um chá quente e uma pilha das minhas queridas panquecas :-)

I'm back in the "island" as I like to call it.

Despite the cold, the weather was great and nothing better to cheer up than some food for the soul : a cup of tea and some of my delicious pancakes :-)

"Um cavalo enfiado num pau" foi a descrição que recebi ao telefone deste delicioso cavalinho que a minha irmã fez para oferecer. Não é lindo?

A qualidade das fotos não é a melhor, mas foi o que se conseguiu...

"A horse on a stick" was the description I got on the phone for this lovely horse my sister made for a present. Isn't it gorgeous?

These aren't the best pictures in the world but  I did my best...

 

 

WIP: My grey scarf

Os bocadinhos que tenho livres têm sido para tricotar o meu cachecol e caso eu não fizesse mil coisas em simultâneo já o teria terminado, isto para não falar nas vezes que desmancho porque me enganei... No entanto, como gosto de vos mostrar como os meus trabalhos vão progredindo aqui está ela ainda incompleta :-)

Every spare minutes I have I knit a bit of my grey scarf and if I didn't make a thousand things at the same time it would be finished by now - this without mentioning the many times I have to undo because I did something wrong... But I promised I would keep you informed about this project so here I am showing you a bit of my work in progress :-)

Home Sweet Home

Hoje, directamente de Faro para onde quer que me estejam a ler.

Faz amanhã uma semana que cheguei a Portugal - vim passar uns dias - e com a ajuda de algumas pessoas consegui manter o "segredo" até ontem, pois queria surpreender os meus pais. Estive "escondida" em Lisboa e ontem de manhã viajei até Faro. À espera tinha a minha mãe, que pensava estar a aguardar a chegada de uma amiga com uma encomenda :-)

Só quem a conhece consegue imaginar a cara que ela fez - ainda pensei registar o momento numa fotografia, mas preferi guardá-lo com o coração. Mais tarde foi a vez de surpreender o meu pai - ía-lhe dando um colapso e não estava crente de que me estava a ver. Os três não conseguíamos parar de rir, e em Lisboa a minha irmã estava em pulgas para saber como tinha sido.

Foi tão giro. É em momentos como este que fazem a vida ter todo o sentido!

Today I'm writting from Home (in Faro) directly to wherever you are reading me.

It's tomorrow on week that I've arrived in Portugal - just for a few days - and with the help of some people I've been keeping this in secret until yesterday, as I wanted to surprise my parents. I've been "hidden" in Lisbon and yesterday I travelled to Faro. My mother was at the train station waiting for a friend to bring her a pack :-)

Only the ones who know her can imagine her face when she saw me - I really thought I had to register that moment with a photo but instead I prefered to save it in my heart. Later it was time to surprise my father - poor man, he nearly had a stroke and couldn't believe I was there. The three of us couldn't stop laughing and back in Lisbon my sister was dying to know I we were.

It was really great. Moments like this give life all the meaning it has!

Golden Half: I love this camera!

Hoje fui buscar a revelação do segundo rolo da minha Golden Half :-) Adoro! Mas gostava mais se me tivessem feito uma revelação decente, pois o que está nas imagens não é o que está na película, o que quer dizer que amanhã terei de ir apresentar reclamação...

Entretanto aqui ficam algumas das que se aproveitaram... (quer dizer, na película estão todas boas!)

I've just got the photos from the second film I used in my Golden Half :-) I love it! But I would be much more pleased if the film had been properly developed, just because what the film shows is not exactly what the pictures show - someone got confused with them! - which means that tomorrow someone will be in trouble...

In the meantime here are some of the good ones...

The Knitting & Stitching Show: still...

Afinal ainda há mais qualquer coisa para mostrar :-) Infelizmente não encontrei referência aos autores destas peças nos meus apontamentos - se as encontrar ainda edito este post para poderem ver o restante trabalho destes verdadeiros artistas. Entretanto se alguém souber da autoria, podem deixar comentários com a mesma - obrigada!

The Knitting & Stitching Show: Tales of the Unfinished

Ainda o Knitting & Stitching Show! - prometo ser este o último post sobre o assunto, até porque em breve terei mais posts sobre feiras, nomeadamente a Selvedge e a Country Living Christmas Fair :-)

No grande hall antes da entrada para a feira existia uma tenda fabulosa, pois estava repleta de peças com história, com a particularidade de todas estas peças estarem incompletas :-) - bordados, quilts, peças de tricot, um mundo feito por mãos maravilhosas. Por dentro, a tenda estava coberta com paineis que contavam a história de cada uma das peças. Um trabalho de recolha e investigação muito bonito, sem dúvida.

Still the Knitting & Stitching Show! - I promise this is the last post about this, also because in a few weeks I'll be talking about other shows: Selvedge and the Country Living Christmas Fair :-)

In the entrance hall before the show itself there was this fabulous tent. It was covered with beauthiful handmade things, but all of them were unfinished :-) - embroideries, quilts, knitting, a whole world made by wonderful hands. Inside you could read in fabric panels the stories behind each unfinished item.

Good Practice

No sábado, quando estive na Knitting & Stitching Show aproveitei para adquirir alguns livros e também revistas a preço promocional (não, não comprei tecidos nem lãs, pois a confusão era muita e eu gosto de escolher e pensar com calma).

O stand da editora da Making Magazine também lá estava e era giríssimo, pois estava decorado com bules de chá cobertos com abafadores tricotados - todos lindos! Aí parei, claro :-) Ía comprar a revista quando uma das assistentes me perguntou por que não comprava um pacote promocional de três títulos diferentes, e onde estaria incluída a Making Magazine a um óptimo preço (quase page uma e leve três). Nem pensei duas vezes e disse que sim. Ela deu-me, então um saco com as revistas dentro.

Umas horas depois, já em casa, verifiquei que afinal a Making Magazine não estava no pacote e havia um título repetido.:-( - se a entrada para a feira não tivesse sido tão cara até teria voltado no dia seguinte, mas acabei por enviar um e-mail a relatar o sucedido.

Segunda-feira de manhã abro o e-mail e vejo uma resposta com um pedido de desculpas pela troca e a pedirem-me a morada para que me fosse enviada a revista em falta. Dois dias depois, a revista foi-me trazida pelo carteiro :-)

Obrigada, Making Magazine! Happy! Happy! Happy!

Last Saturday when I was at the Knitting & Stitching Show I took advantage of some promotions and bought books and magazines (no I didn't buy any yarns or fabrics as I like to choose them peacefully).
The Making Magazine stand was there and beautifully decorated with tea pots covered with lovely knitted cozies :-) As I was going to buy the magazine one of the girls there asked me if I wanted to buy a pck with three different titles, in which there was the one I was about to buy. As I said yes, she passed me a tote bag with the magazines - this was a great deal as I got three for the price of one.
When I got home and spread over my bed all the things I had brought I was disappointed by the bag with the magazines: my Making Magazine wasn't there and instead I had a repeated title :-( If the show ticket hadn't been so expensive I would have gone back the next day, but I ended up sending an e-mail to tell them what had happened.
On Monday morning as I opened my e-mail I had a reply apologizing for the inconvenience and asking for my address so I could receive the latest issue of Making Magazine. Two days later the postman knocked on my door with it :-)

Thinking about Christmas

Eu sei que ainda (parece que) falta muito tempo, mas a verdade é que os dias passam num ápice e há que planear atempadamente pequenos mimos para o Natal, quer para oferecer quer para disponibilizar aqui. Assim, há dias folheii pela enésima vez o livro da Dottie Angel e página daqui, ideia dali comecei a a fazer algo que ainda não sei se dará certo.

O que vos parece este novo projecto?

I know it (seems) early, but the truth is that days go by faster than we notice and I have to plan ahead some stocking fillers either for my friends or to make them available from here. Therefore I went through Dottie Angel's book for the thoundandth time and one page here, an idea there and I started a new project which I still don't know if it will be successful?

What do you think of it?

The Knitting & Stitching Show: Displaying details

Quando visito algumas feiras de artesanato ou fico encantada com a disposição dos artigos e decoração dos stands ou então fico completamente desiludida. Aqui não foi excepção e como os meus olhos se fixam nas coisas bonitas, deixo-vos aqui alguns exemplos do que vi e gostei. Espero que seja do vosso agrado :-)

When I visit some craft shows either I love the way the stands are decorated and the items displayed or I get completely disappointed. This show wasn't the exception but my eyes tend to fix on what's pretty, therefore here are some examples of what I saw. I hope you like it :-)

The Knitting & Stitching Show: Il était une fois

Esta feira é um mundo: são centenas de expositores e milhares de visitantes! Há horas em que é difícil nos aproximarmos dos pavilhões mas na parte da tarde o fluxo de gente alivia um pouco e aí, sim, é possível descobrir as maravilhas escondidas atrás da multidão.

(In) Felizmente só descobri este cantinho já quase na hora da saída e (in)felizmente tinha deixado os meus cartões TODOS em casa :-), pois tinha sido a banca rota total. Ainda assim, e já a pensar no Natal comprei uns meros quadradinhos que me vai custar imenso usar...

Digam lá que não é uma delícia?

This show is overwhelming: there are hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of visitors! And there are times that it's difficult to see what is in the stands, but in the afternoon people tend to dismiss and then you can find what was hidden behind the crowds.

(Un)Fortunately I only found this stand as I was leaving and (un)fortunately I had left my credit and debit cards at home :-), otherwise I would have gone bust! Even so, and thinking about Christmas I bought these blocks which will be hard for me to use...

Now tell me, isn't this delicious?
