Once upon a time...

Quando a falta de tempo se associa ao cansaço de quase um ano de trabalho sem interrupções, a produtividade diminui a olhos vistos aqui por estes lados. No entanto há que dar continuidade às encomendas pendentes e é com muito esforço que lá vai saíndo mais qualquer coisa.

Depois há que contar com as asneiras e os desastres que ocorrem no caminho :-( , mas apesar destes lá consegui ter mais uma encomenda pronta para entrega.

When the lack of time meets a tired body and mind there's no way to keep the rythm of production. Despite this I have to meet the orders and here are two more t-shirts ready to be delivered.

Encomendas /Orders

Há alturas em que é difícil gerir as encomendas que vão chegando. O tempo é escasso, pois entre o trabalho, actividades extra, viagens de trabalho e explicações não é muita a disponibilidade. Acrescido a isto a dificuldade em dizer não a qualquer desafio, pois todas as encomendas representam um pouco de um desafio, uma vez que nenhuma é igual à anterior. Tenho pendentes algumas t-shirts, um estojo de unhas e umas almofadinhas mas enquanto planeio mentalmente alguns destes projectos vou executando outros, como esta carteira que me foi pedida.

There are times when it's difficult to manage all the ordert that come through. I don't have much time left form work, extra activities, business trips and tutoring classes. If you add to this the fact that any order represents a challenge to me, as none repeats the previous one. There are some t-shirts outstanding, a beauty organiser and some hot-cold pillows but as I mentally plan these things I manage to meke some others, like this wallet.

Domingo à tarde /Sunday afternoon

Parecia fácil, e não foi difícil, mas demorado lá isso foi! Nas revistas parece tudo muito mais simples e rápido...

It seemed easy and it wasn't difficult, but it took us longer than what we had anticipated. In magazine pages everything looks so much simple...

O primeiro passo foi escolher os caixotes. Estes devem ter cerca de 30 anos e estavam, junto com outros tantos, numa pilha do alpendre onde em tempos o pai escolhia e encaixotava as laranjas, clementinas e tangerinas mais doces que alguma vez comemos. Que saudades desses tempos...

In first place we had to choose the right boxes. These ones must be about 30 years old and they were from the years when our father used to produce oranges, clementines, tangerines... the sweetest we've ever eaten in our lives. We miss those times...

O segundo passo foi lixá-los e para isso tivemos uma preciosa ajuda.

Than, we had to sand them but for this task we had a preciou help.

Depois veio uma demão de primário e finalmente a tinta branca. Foi trabalho para uma tarde inteira, a quatro mãos.

Afterwards a coat of primary and finally the white paint. We spent the whole of the afternoon doing this.

Em dia de aniversário/Our anniversary

Mais um ano, e já lá vão quatro!

O Pano p'ra Mangas nasceu há precisamente quatro anos, num dia de muito calor e após uma grande reunião sobre que nome atribuir a este espaço. O que ficou não constava na lista e surgiu do acaso.

Normalmente os aniversariantes é que recebem presentes, mas aqui vamos nós presentear. Entre quem nos deixar um comentário alusivo a esta celebração, aqui ou no Flickr (um cometário por pessoa...) até à meia noite de dia 10, será sorteada uma pequena lembrança com a nossa marca (que ainda não é registada, mas um dia destes...quem sabe?).

Another year, and this is the fourth!

Our blog was created four years ago, in a very hot summer day after a "big meeting" where the main subject was to discuss what name to give to this place. The chosen one was not on the list and it just happen to come up.

To celebrate another aniversary we have prepared a little give away. Among everyone who leaves a message (related to this celebration) here or at our Flickr page by midnight of the 10th a small award will be draught.

TLC = Tender, Love and Care

Esta faz parte de uma encomenda de três t-shirts. É bom receber encomendas assim, com total liberdade de escolha, tal como a amizade de longa data que nos une à destinatária. Daquelas amizades que se perdem no tempo, porque sempre existiu e onde não é preciso estar perto para se estar. As outras duas estão em execução :-)

This is the first of an order of three t-shirts. It feels good to receive orders like this, with total freedom of choice like the friendship with the person who ordered them. This is the kind of friendship that gets lost in time, as it has always been there, and we know that it's not necessary to be near for it to live. The other two are on their way :-)

Guloseimas de ontem/Yesterday's treats

Não há como esta receita sair mal, pois as instruções a seguir não têm nada que saber. No entanto fiz-lhe umas pequenas alterações: diminuí a quantidade de manteiga, acrescentei passas e canela e à falta de geleia para por por cima, pincelei-a com um pouco de Golden Syrup.

There's not a chance that this recipe goes wrong, just because the instructions are very easy to follow. Despite this, I've introduced some changes: I didn't used as much butter as in the recipe, and I added some raisins and cinnamon. As I didn't have any gelly at home, I've srinkled it with a bit of Golden Syrup
