iPad sketching

Se eu sou conhecida por escrever quadras em envelopes usados, a Vânia não me fica atrás, mas ela tem um leque mais alargado de suportes: guardanapos, papelinhos, moleskines e há dias estreou-se no iPad - não a escrever quadras, mas a desenhar e, clandestinamente!!! Não, ela não desenhou clandestinamente, as minhas fotos é que não são autorizadas :-)))

Quem a observava a deslizar os dedos no ecrã, ficava com a sensação de que ela tinha os dedos sujos de tinta. No final o retrato que fez do pai ficou giro, não ficou???

If I'm know for writing poems in used envelopes, Vânia doesn't stay behind but he has a broader choice of supports: paper napkins, scraps of paper, post-its and a few days ago she tried sketching on an iPad!!! I couldn't have taken these photos, but I did - fortunately I wasn't caught by any security camera :-)))

If you were watching her doing this you would say that she had dirty fingers. In the end the sketch of our father turned out great, didn't it?

Book review: Girl's World

Este é um dos livros mais deliciosos que adquiri nos últimos tempos - este, e o outro cujo paradeiro é, ainda, desconhecido... (uma amiga minha diz que o livro me vai ser devolvido traduzido!)- e tem a particularidade de estar assinado :-)

Ao contrário de uma encomenda que enviei há quinze dias e que só chegou hoje ao destinatário, o Girl's World viajou dos EUA até mim em menos de quatro dias, tendo pelo meio o fim-de-semana da Páscoa - fantástico, não é? Assim que o tive na mão e o folheei, não resisti a ter que fazer um dos projectos mais simples que lá está: um cachorrinho!!! Nas orelhas utilizei o tecido que a Jennifer, amavelmente, me ofereceu.

Mas voltando ao livro:

Além de colorido e de ter uma qualidade fotográfica irrepreensível, é preenchido por projectos direccionados a meninas de quase todas as idades - vestidos, aventais, malas,quilts, candeeiros, etc. Os moldes vêm numa bolsa à parte, onde podem ser facilmente arrumados sem que os percamos de vista, e cada modelo é seguido de instruções precisas de como o executar.

Quem o encomendar do site da SisBoom, tal como eu fiz, receberá uma cópia autografada :-)

E antes que me perguntem, ou fiquem a conjecturar - não, isto não é publicidade paga, nem ganho nada com isso. Mais uma vez, estou a partilhar algo de que gosto!

This is one of the most eye candy books I've bought in the last few months - this and the one that disappeaerd into space :-(( a friend of mine says the person who kept it is translating it for me) - and has been signed by the author :-)

Unlike an order I sent a fortnight ago which was delivered only today, the Girl's World has traveled from the U.S. to me in less than four days - with a long weekend in between - fantastic, right? As soon as it arrived, I flipped through it and I could not resist making the most simple project featured there: a puppy! For the ears I used the fabric that Jennifer kindly offered me.

But back to the book:

Not only it's full of colour but it also has a flawless picture quality and it is filled with 100% girly projects - dresses, aprons, bags, quilts, lamps, etc.. The patterns come in a folder attached to the front cover, where they can be put back after usage so they don't get lost, and each one is followed by precise instructions on how to make it.

And before you ask any questions or try to guess - no, I didn't get paid for writting this neither I got anything for it. As usual, I'm only sharing something I enjoy!

Mais do mesmo: "camera strap covers"

Ontem foi feriado, mas a máquina de costura não teve descanso. O balanço foi muito positivo: um coelho, mais três capas para alças da máquina fotográfica (em breve na loja) e algo mais, que não posso revelar, pois se a minha afilhada aparece por aqui fica a saber o que o coelho da Páscoa lhe trouxe :-)))

Despite it was a holiday, yesterday my sewing maching didn't have a break. I must say that the balance was positive: a hare, another three camera strap covers (soon to be in the shop) and something more, which I can not reveal, in case my goddaugther comes round here and sees what Easter bunny brought her this year :-)))

A época das amêndoas * It's almond season

Todos os anos a cena repete-se, há pelo menos dez anos: o doce odor a açúcar em ponto juntamente com as amêndoas invade a nossa cozinha por dias e dias a fio, pelo menos até ao domingo de Páscoa.

Este ano não é excepção e a "produção" caseira já começou :-) Se no ano passado escolhemos o papel para as embrulhar, este ano resolvemos fazer pacotinhos de tecido.

The story repeats year after year, at least for the last ten years: the sweet smell of hot sugar together with the almonds invades our kitchen days in a row, at least until Easter Sunday.

This year is not the exception and the "manufacturing" has already started :-) If last year we pack them in paper, this year we made some fabric bags.

Presents made with L+O+V+E

Já não é novidade para ninguém que gosto de oferecer presentes feitos por mim, mas também só os faço para quem lhes dá o devido valor :-) e foi o caso destas letras que forrei com diversos tecidos. Ficaram giras, não ficaram? Acho, até que vou fazer umas para mim!

It's not new that I like to present my friends with things I make, but I only make for people who appreciate them :-) These letters were one of those situations. They look nice, don't they? I'm even thinking about making some for me!

Pelo campo * Countryside

Há alguns meses que não trespassava aquele portão que, ultimamente, tem estado fechado, mas hoje "apanhei-o" aberto e lá fui eu caminho fora com uma companhia de palmo e meio de olhos postos em todas as plantas numa incessante busca por... caracóis!!! Não apanhámos muitos, é verdade, e com excepção de algumas papoilas, o mais interessante que vimos foi uma pequena joaninha que assim que me passou para a mão voou de asas bem abertas :-)))

It's been a long time since I last crossed that gate, which has been closed, but today it was opened and I in and walked that long path with a little girl by the hand - her eyes were seeking all the bushes and plants for ... snails!!! We didn't get that many, it's true, but she saw this pretty ladybug that flew as soon as it reached my hand :-)))

WIP: presente de aniversário * WIP: birthday present

Este é um presente que era para ter sido entregue há semanas, mas a chegada tardia das letras necessárias à loja atrasou o seu processo de transformação, por isso só hoje consegui começar a dar-lhe forma.

Prometo que mostro depois de o oferecer, ok?

This is a present that was tohave been given weeks ago, but the necessary letters have just arrived to the shop which delayed all the process, therefore only today I started making this.

OI promise to show it afterwards, ok?

Photo of the week: Artisani

Alguém me consegue explicar porque tudo o que é bom ou é pecado ou engorda?

Com o calor que tem estado, nada sabe melhor que um gelado fresquinho a meio da tarde e na sexta-feira fui, finalmente, provar os gelados da Artisani - há meses que passo por lá com alguma regularidade, mas ou está fechada, ou está muito frio para conseguir comer um gelado.

Sabores escolhidos: framboesa e limão com hortelã (recomendo, é mesmo muito bom!!!)

Can someone explain me why all that is good is either a sin or fattening?

It's been so hot that nothing feels better than a cool icecream during the afternoon and last Friday I had, finally, the chance to try the Artisani icecreams - it's been months that I pass by but it is either closed or too cold.

The chosen flavours were: raspberry and lemon with mint (I highly recommend this, it's really good!!!)

Olh' ó passarinho! * Say cheesseeee!

Mais duas alças prontas para entregar, desta vez a duas amigas que viram a minha e me pediram que usasse as mesmas cores e os mesmos tecidos. Não foi 100% possível, mas o resultado é bastante simpático - aliás, mesmo que quisesse não conseguia fazer igual!

Another two strap covers for two friends who saw mine the other day and asked me to make these using the same colour combination and fabrics. It wasn't 100% possible, but the result is pretty nice - well, even if I wanted I couldn't do it!

T-shirts

Há dias que tinha estas t-shirts prontas para enviar, mas trabalho + alergias + idas-inesperadas-a-Lisboa fizeram com que me atrasasse no envio. Para compensar esta minha falha, adicionei uns mimos à encomenda :-)))

It's been days that I had these t-shirts ready to be sent, but work + allergies + unexpected-meetings-in-Lisbon delayed the shipping. To compensate for the delay I've added some lovelies to the order :-)))

Sketching

Embora ande sempre com o caderno na mala, a maior parte das vezes a fazer peso(!), há meses que não desenhava nada. NADA! Nem um bloco de patchwork, nem um pequeno projecto... Acho que fiquei com medo de não conseguir "desenhar". Mas ontem, e por razões que desconheço, tirei o caderno da mala e mesmo sob o olhar atento de alguém que estava na do lado oposto, não me deixei intimidar e comecei a rabiscar o que me tinha sido posto sobre a mesa :-) Mais tarde, já no comboio, foquei a caneta no que tinha à frente.

Afinal não dói nada. Medo para quê?

PS- Agora tenho de ir mostrar isto à minha professora :-)))

Although I always carry my sketchbook with me, it´s been months since I last scribbled something. NOTHING!!! Not even a patchwork block or a small project... I think I was scared to death of not achieving anything. But yesterday, for reasons no one can explain, I took my sketchbook out of my bag, and despite the look of someone sitting opposite to me, I didn't feel ashamed and started sketching what I had just been served :-) Later, in the train, my pen focused on what I had in front of me.

After all it doens't hurt. Why to be afraid?

PS- Now I have to show this to my teacher :-)))

One pair of soles = One thousand possibilities

Gosto de andar com calçado confortável, por isso as sabrinas têm um lugar especial no meu coração :-) mas de vez em quando há que variar e se se puder associar conforto a outros atributos, melhor ainda!

Há dias comprei estas sandálias e de imediato vi que tinha calçado para o Verão inteiro com a vantagem de poder ser diferente todos os dias - já tenho quase prontas estas duas tiras reversíveis, e com certeza farei mais algumas. Não é uma boa ideia????

Ballerina shoes are far my favourite type of shoes, but once in a while I like to vary, never forgetting the most important thing: comfort!

A few days ago I bought a pair of these sandals and it didn't take long to realise that I had shoes for the Summer with the advantage they can be different everyday - I've already made two pairs of reversible straps, and I'm sure I'll be sewing some more. Isn't this a good idea?

Aprender * Learning

Como diz a mãe: "ninguém nasce ensinado", e se há coisa da qual não me envergonho é de mostrar que, por vezes, preciso de uma ajuda extra para aprender algumas coisas, por isso além de recorrer a livros e à internet, frequento workshops que me podem trazer alguma mais valia. Para quê armar-me em esperta?

Este fim-de-semana estive num workshop de fotografia organizado pelo Educaplus e dado pelo José Goulão. Se valeu a pena? Valeu! Não só pelo que aprendi, mas pelo grupo que se juntou! Obrigada a todos e até breve :-)))

If there is thing I'm not ashamed of is to show that, sometimes, I need an extra help to learn this or that, so I not only read books ans search the web, but I also attend several workshops which can help me to improve my skills. Why shall I pretend that I know more than the rest of the world?

This weekend I attended a photography workshop organised by Educaplus and monitored by José Goulão. If it was worth it? Yes, it was! Not only for what I've learned but also for the group of nice people that got together. Thank you all and see you soon :-)))

New camera straps

Lembram-se desta capa que fiz para a alça da minha máquina fotográfica? Hoje houve quem tivesse gostado dela, por isso quando cheguei a casa estive a fazer estas três e amanhã vou sortear uma delas :-)

Do you remember this strap cover I made for my camera? Today a few people liked it so much that I when I got home I made these three, and tomorrow I'm giving one away :-)
