As peças do quilt começam a tomar forma e mais uns dias terei o topo montado para depois sobrepor as camadas.
Antes de cortar desenhei um bloco numa folha quadriculada e adicionei as medidas das costuras. Só depois de tudo bem calculado comecei a cortar os tecidos. Este é um processo demorado, mas compensa, pois o desperdício de tecido é mínimo - se bem que o que sobra de um lado é sempre aproveitado noutro... - e a montagem dos blocos fica muito facilitada.
The quilt blocks are starting to look like that and in a few days time I'll have the top of the ready to make the sandwish with the other layers.
Before cutting the fabrics I drew a block in a sheet of paper and added the seams allowance. Only when I had all the maths done I started cutting the fabrics. This may take long but it is worth the effort as it saves you fabric and piecing the blocks becomes much easier.
