WIP

Para não fugir à regra do Carnaval, também este ano fiquei doente. Não o suficiente para ficar de cama, mas de jeito a que já não vá para a folia esta noite. Por isso, para passar melhor as horas tenho uns trabalhos para terminar que não me vão deixar ficar quieta muito tempo. Amanhã, com o céu azul e o sol a brilhar haverá, com certeza fotografias destes organizadores de malas já prontos.

This year I couldn't brake the rule, so as usual I'm sick at home. Not ill enough to stay in bed, but bad enough to stop me going "Carnival clubbing" tonight. So, in order to make use of my time and help the hours go by I've got some purse organisers to finish. Tomorrow I'll take some pictures of the finished items.

Sacos de compras /Shopping Bags

A tela ainda é a mesma e as experiências continuam antes de se avançar para os padrões mais bonitos. Risca daqui, cose dali e a Oliva não tem tido descanso, provando que continua em forma!

The hoarding is still the same and we are still making experiences before moving to a more beautiful hoarding. Trace here, cut there and the Oliva sewing machine is proving that it is still in very good condition!

Sunday Stash # five

Como é agradável acordar, abrir a janela e ter este céu à espreita. Já se ouve os primeiros pássaros que hão-de encher esta árvore durante todo o Verão. Nessa altura são tantos que se torna impossível dormir com a sua algazarra matinal.

It is very pleasant to wake up, open the window and have a sky like this looking at us. One can hear the first birds that live in this tree throughout the Summer. By then, they will be so many that it is impossible to sleep with their morning noise.

WIP

Eu avisei que a velhinha Oliva ainda iria dar que falar e muito que coser. Depois de ter sido devidamente oleada há uns dias, já coseu o fato de Carnaval do S. e ontem, pelas mãos da mãe, já experimentou as telas acabadas de chegar. Um saco para ir ao mercado já está quase pronto.

I told you that the old sewing machine Oliva was due to be famous. After being lubricated it has sewn a Carnival costume for S. and yesterday my mother tried to make a bag with the hoardings that had arrived. A shopping bag to take to the market is almost finished.

Acabadas de chegas / Just arrived

Acabadas de chegar, estas telas que ainda não têm destino: bolsas, malas, individuais para a mesa... o que vier à cabeça! Em breve na nossa loja.

These hoardings have just arrived but we still don't know what they will become: bags, purses, place mats... whatever comes to our minds. Soon at our shop.

Experiências

Ontem não me apeteceu pegar na costura, mas como não sou de ficar quieta, resolvi fazer umas experiências com a Sizzix e algumas pontas de tecido. Daí nasceram estas pregadeiras já com cheirinho a Verão: frescas, coloridas e com ar apetitoso. Apesar do frio que ainda se faz sentir, duas já vieram no meu casaco.

Yesterday I didn't feel like doing any sewing, and as I cannot stand still without doing nothing, I made some experiments with my Sizzix and some fabric scraps. In the end I had these Summer brooches made: they are fresh, colourful and look very yummiii!

Despite the cold, I'm wearing two of them today.

Arrumações / Tidying up

Aproveitando a ideia da Sandra, estive, esta tarde a arrumar algumas das fitas e galões que temos por aqui. Estavam em frascos e se, de início nos pareceu uma boa ideia, os frascos começaram a ficar cheios demais e o conteúdo amarrotado.

Infelizmente, a meio do processo de arrumação, as molas chegaram ao fim e não consegui encontrar mais cabides do género aqui em casa -voltam todos para a lavandaria...

Making use of Sandras's idea I spent the afernoon tidying up part of the ribbons and trimms we have. They were all in jam jars, anf if this seemed to be a good idea when we started, the jars became over-full and the content was getting damaged.

Unfortunately as I was going through this process I finished the pegs and couldn't find any more metal hangers as they all go back to the dry cleaning...

Terminado/ Finished

O trabalho de ontem está terminado e pronto para seguir para o seu destino. Não pensei ter tempo para os fazer a horas, pois ontem o deitar foi a uma hora que até tenho vergonha de dizer (de cedo que foi) e hoje o despertar foi antes dos galos madrugadores. Pelo meio 600km ao volante e muito cansaço. Durmam bem.

Yesterday's project is finished and ready to be delivered. I didn't think I would have time to finishit on time, as yesterday I went to bed so early that I cannot tell you and I woke up before the morning birds. In between I drove about 600km and I feel very tired. Sleep tight!

WIP

Ontem recebi uma encomenda de dois organizadores de mala. Enquanto almoçava planeei como os queria. Já em casa talhei uns quantos, pois os outros irão para a loja. O trabalho foi interrompido por uma reunião tardia, mas hoje à noite espero acabá-los.

Yesterday I received an order for two purse organisers and while I was having lunch I planned them. When I arrived at home I cut a few (two for the order received and the rest will be stocked at the shop)but the work was interrupted by a late meeting. Tonight I hope to finish them.

Home made

Ficaram lindas e deliciosas as gomas que fiz esta tarde. Como foi só para experimentar a receita, comprei apenas gelatina de morango, mas parece-me que um prato colorido destas pequenas guloseimas deve ficar maravilhoso.

Receita: Ao lume misture 1 saqueta de gelatina de sabor a gosto, cerca de 20 gramas de gelatina sem sabor, 200 gramas de açúcar e 200ml de água. Mistura-se tudo muito bem até que as gelatinas e o açúcar fique bem dissolvido. Passe por água formas de gelo de silicone e despeje o conteúdo. Desenforme após 3 horas no mínimo e passe as gomas por açúcar.

I made these jely candies this afternoon and they look beautiful and delicious! As I had never tried this recipe before, I only bought strawberry jelly to try but I believe that a plate full of coloured sweets must look fabulous.

Recipe: In a pan stir 1 pack of flavoured jelly, 20gr of plain jelly, 200gr of white sugar and 200ml of water. Use silicone ice cube trays as a mould and leave it in the fridge for 3 hours before removing the swwets from the moulds.

Para o frio.../For the cold

O frio teima em não se ir embora, daí houve alguém que me pediu para fazer uma capa para a botija de água quente. A primeira que fiz foi um desastre :-S mas esta parece-me razoável.

The cold weather doesn't want to leave, therefore there was someone who asked me to make a cover for a hot water bottle. The first I made was a disaster :-S but this one looks reasonable well.

Renascer

Não sei quantos anos tem esta máquina, mas deve ter quase tantos quantos a minha idade e a da minha irmã somadas. Conheci-a em casa da minha avó e vi muitas peças bonitas nela serem feitas, mas desde há oito anos que vive lá em casa, quase esquecida com o móvel apenas a servir de suporte para tudo e mais alguma coisa. Ontem à noite viu novamente a luz.

A propósito de uma aquisição recente, um walking foot, que foi experimentada nas duas outras máquinas que temos em casa sem qualquer sucesso. Não nos restava outra alternativa senão tentar a velhinha Oliva. E não é que serviu? Já a limpei, já foi oleada e no fim-de-semana vai ganhar um novo lugar, desta vez no atelier.

I don't know how old is this sewing machine but it must be older than my age and my sister's together. I've always known it at my grandmother's house and I saw many pretty things coming out of it, but for the last eight years it has been at a corner just being used to accumulate bits and bobs on top of it. Yesterday it was reborn!

We recently bought a walking foot which woudn't fit any of the other two machines we have at home, so we decided to try the old Oliva from granny. And it fitted!!!! It has been cleaned, oiled and next weekend I'll take it to its new place - our crafts room.

Mother made it...

Não foi fácil, não foi rápido, mas o resultado é realmente bonito. 100% lã quer no feltro quer no bordado.

Hoje trouxe-a comigo, mas amanhã volta para quem de direito.

Neither it was easy, nor it was fast, but the result is really beautiful. This bag is 100% wool: the felt and the embroidery.

Today I borrowed it from my mother but tomorrow I'll have to return it.

Sunday stash

A história por trás de dois destes tecidos, se é que há alguma, é que foram baratíssimos. Trouxe-os de Badajoz por 4€ o metro com dois metros de largura.

The story behind two of these fabricas, if there is one, is that they were a real bargain. I brought them from Badajoz and they cost 4€ per square metre and they are 2mt wide.

Outra vez sem luz!/Another power cut

Depois da tempestade da noite passada outra coisã não seria de esperar que não outro corte deenergia. Começa a ser um hábito e não tem piada nenhuma! Com a máquina de costura parada e muito pouca claridade para trabalhar, arranja-se outras coisas para fazer. Como os dias ainda estão frios, nada melhor que um cachecol para aquecer.

After last night's storm we couldn't expect anything else than a powe cut. This is starting to become an habit and it's not fun! Consequently the sweing machine has been stoped and the day was very dark. Fortunately I found something else to make: a warm scarf for the cold days still ahead.
