Faixas para a cintura * Obi waist belt

Estes cintos não representam qualquer novidade, mas nunca tinha feito nenhum e às vezes apetece-me sair um pouco da rotina das t-shirts, das clutches e das mil e uma carteirinhas.No fim-de-semana,  depois de ter feito alguns colares e pulseiras para "consumo caseiro", voltei aos tecidos com estas duas peças que darão graça a qualquer vestido liso  e servem em qualquer cintura :-)

These sort of belts are far from being a novelty, but I had never made one before and sometimes I need to escape from whst I always make: t-shirts, clutches, pouches... So last weekend, after making some bracelets and necklaces for myself, I went back to my fabrics and made these two items which will be perfect on a dress and fit any size waist :-)

Com o calor vem a preguiça.

Directamente da árvore * Directly from the tree

Esta deve ser a época mais ansiada do ano aqui por casa, e porquê? Simplesmente porque as figueiras que temos perto da nora se enchem de figos. Os primeiros já estão a sair da árvore e são GIGANTES!!! (ok...posso estar a exagerar, mas são realmente grandes e apetitosos).

Vânia, olha lá o que te espera no fim-de-semana :-)))

We spend the year thinking about the months starting now, and why? Simply beacuse the fig trees by the borehole are full of figs. The first were harvested yesterday and they are GIGANTIC!!! (well...not gigantic but very big and delicious)

PS - Na segunda-feira o nosso blog completa seis anos e em jeito de brincadeira temos um post diferente do habitual :-))) .

There are so many pretty things out there that it is almosr impossible to choose what we really like or what inspires us. *Qulting*

Afinal não foram cinco, mas seis os pequenos quilts que fiz no último ano, e olhando para eles, agora que terminei um fico com vontade de continuar e partir para algo um pouco mais complexo. Vou pensar no assunto, ver os tecidos que tenho disponíveis, fazer uns rabiscos e por mãos à obra. É que gosto mesmo de os fazer: sem grandes esquemas ou muita matemática é giro ver o seu nascimento à medida que são construídos.

Algumas sugestões? De cores, ou até mesmo de padrões?

After all I didn't make five, but six quilts in the last year, and looking at them right now I feel I want to make more and start something more challenging. I need to think about it, check my fabric stash, draw some sketches and start sewing. I really enjoy making them :-) it feels nice to feel them growing.

Any suggestions? Colours or patterns?

De vez em quando vêm-me parar às mãos peças que me deixam completamente embevecida e ontem aconteceu-me isso. Este casal de bonecos foi feito à mão para uma menina, que ainda não tem dois anos, pela sua bisavó - bisavó esta que também andou comigo ao colo :-), quer dizer, connosco!

Tenho a certeza que, não tarda muito, dirá cheia de orgulho "Foi a minha bisa que os fez!"

Reparem nos detalhes - não são adoráveis?

Yesterday I had this couple waiting for me. They are not mine, unfortunately but they are so precious that I had to share them with you. They were made for a little girl by her great-grandmother :-) who knows us since we were toddlers. I'm certain that soon she'll be proudly saying "It was granny who made them!"

Guess what

Ontem, ao chegar a casa tinha um pequeno presente enviado pela mana :-) Estes dois tecidos já estão predestinados a algo que temos em mente há algum tempo. Alguém se candidata a dar um passo em frente para nos dizer o que deles vai nascer? Um pequeno presente - no mosaico- já está preparado a quem acertar :-)))

Yesterday, when I got home I had a little present from my sister :-) These two fabrics are for somenting we have in mind for a while. Who's the first one to tell us what we are about to make? We have a small gift - shown in the mosaic - for the first person to give us the right answer :-)))

Bem, parece-me que vou ter de ceder à pressão das pistas.

Mary Poppins' bag

Eu já sabia que deste molde iria resultar algo grande, nunca pensei é que fosse tão grande! Para quem gosta de malas ao estilo Mary Poppins esta é perfeita: é enorme e cabe tudo (mesmo tudo!!!) lá dentro.

Para o exterior usei um retalho de ganga que comprei há umas semanas e para o forro escolhi um dos tecidos de Verão do IKEA. Tenho de repetir a experiência!

I knew that from this pattern I would get something big, but I've never imagined that it could be soooooo big! For someone who likes Mary Poppins' bags this one is perfect: it's enormous and it takes everything inside. For the outside fabric I used some denim I bought a few weeks ago and for the lining I chose a Summer IKEA fabric. I must repeat this!

Dos sete babetes que consegui fazer entre Sexta e ontem, estes quatro já estão prontos para seguir o seu destino. Hoje fiz um intervalo, é estou a fazer algo diferente para um menino que nasce em Março. Espero conseguir levar a bom porto o projecto, pois nunca fiz algo do género...
From the seven bibs I made over the weekend these four are ready to be sent. Today I had to take a break in "bib making" and I'm starting a new project for a boy who is due to born next March. I hope I can complete it as I've never made anything of the kind...

Preto e Branco / Black and White

Desde que me habituei a andar com um caderno na mala, já não posso saír de casa sem ele. Serve-me, muitas vezes, de companhia à hora de almoço, quando numa esplanada, na praia ou no jardim petisco qualquer coisa. A caixa das aguarelas tem ficado em casa, por isso os rabiscos têm sido feitos a preto e estão à espera (ou não) de serem coloridos. Ainda não vai ser este fim de semana, pois tenho uma encomenda de sete babetes para fazer...

Since I got used to carry my sketchbook in my bag, I can't leave home without it. It's my company at lunch time while at any terrace, beach or garden I nibble something. Lately I've been only scribbling in black and white as I leave the watercolour box at home. These are waiting to be coloured (or not) but I'm not doing it this weekend as I have an order of seven bibs to complete...

Mother made it

Desisti da clutch, pelo menos por hoje. O cansaço do dia deixa-me por vezes com pouca paciência para lidar com pontos soltos e agulhas tortas e quando tudo começa a correr mal, mais vale arrumar tudo e adiar os acabamentos para amnhã.

Enquanto isso a mãe esteve no atelier dela a costurar umas bolsas que ficaram bem giras. Duas para mim (as quais já recheei :-)) e outras duas para quem as quiser. São feitas de telas de publicidade, plástico transparente na frente e fecham com um fecho.

I gave up of the clutch, at least for today. I'm feeling tired from work and not very patient to deal with broken stitches and bended needles and when everything starts to go wrong, it's better to stop.

Meanwhile my mother was in her sewing room making this pouches. Two of them are already mine (and I've filled them with my stuff:-)) and the other two are to whomever wants them. They were made of an advertising hoarding, transparant plastic in the front and they close with a zipper.

Encomenda/Custom order

A Estella viu as bolsas que coloquei ontem aqui e pediu-me que fizesse uma onde coubesse o seu telemóvel, isto é mais pequena. Como consegui chegar cedo a casa, sentei-me junto da máquina de costura e dei forma ao seu pedido. Está pronta a ser enviada. Espero que seja do seu agrado.

Estella saw the pouches I blogged yesterday and asked me to make one for her mobile phone. As I managed to get home early, I sat at the sewing machine and made it. It's ready to be sent. I hope she likes it.

Pequenas bolsas/Little pouches

A mania das bolsas e bolsinhas vem de família e não há como dar a volta. Entre sol, encomendas e panquecas consegui fazer umas quantas. Só consegui tirar fotos a estas, pois as outras já partiram para longe.

This thing about bags, pouches and little wallets runs in the family and there's no turn back. Between standing in the sun, finishing some outstanding orders and pancakes for afternnon tea I managed to make a few. Only these two were left to be pictured, as the other ones have gone...
